Chocolate-oatmeal goodness, and not so much badness

I don't know if this photo is appealing to anyone other than me. But these Chocolate Oatmeal Hermits are goooood. This is what I make when I am dying for some chocolate-chip cookies but am trying not to sabotage my attempts at healthy eating. In addition to being much lower in fat than regular chippies, they are much quicker to make, since they don't call for softened butter.

Don't misunderstand me: nothing compares to the butter-flour-brown-sugar wallop of real chocolate-chip cookies. But these will scrach the itch at the very least.

I found the recipe online, but it is originally from Cooking Light magazine. My Cooking Light 1998 cookbook tells me that one cookie (the recipe makes two dozen) has 84 calories, 3.5g of fat, and 0.7g of fiber. One cookie? Ha!
