My grandpa's right hand

My grandpa celebrated his 90th birthday in January of this year. Before he retired, Grandpa was an aeronautical and civil engineer. He is also an accomplished carpenter. He built many of the bookcases in my parents' house. (And they have a lot of books.) Grandpa lost half of two fingers on his right hand in a table-saw incident many years ago.

This photo is a close-up of a sculpture in Claremont, California, the town where I grew up. The artist finished the back and sides of the marble slab with hand prints from members of the community. I'm thrilled that Grandpa's distinguished hand print is a permanent part of this sculpture. It sure is easy to spot among all the others.
