Gift with purchase
To the woman at the Clinique cosmetics counter who talked me into a complete makeover:
I came to your store today to buy two specific items worth exactly $21.50 so that I would qualify for the free Gift With Purchase. I am willing to be upsold a little, maybe purchase a plain brown mascara that I hadn't planned to buy. But what was it about my old jeans, polo shirt, fleece jacket, and scraggly ponytail that made you think I'd like frosty eyeshadow, angry penciled eyebrows, shimmery pink cheeks and big clumpy black eyelashes? Sporty glow, yes. Drag queen sizzle? NO.

By the way, your Gift With Purchase sucked.
